Review

Epica push the boundaries of symphonic, technical and, well, epic metal even further! Like Nightwish's big ugly braver cousin, Epica blend power and aggression effortlessly with melody and grace.

Enter the stunning, in every way, vocalist Simone Simmons. She's taken her vocals into a much warmer, heartfelt direction since debut CD 'The Phantom Agony' (another class release, incidentally).

Couple this with an overall more unified feel to the band on this opus, and then you know songs like "Dance of Fate", "Solitary Ground", the title track, and the fabulous duet with Khan from Kamelot can't fail to impress! That said, each track is memorable in its own way and, being a concept album, flows perfectly.
