Review
Let's face it, former singer Liv Kristine is showing the way with her new band Leaves Eyes. Theatre of Tragedy had to pull something decent out of the bag, and all eyes.. well okay, ears, were on new gal Nell.
Well, the result is... she sounds just like Liv Kristine! But Theatre of Tragedy have always had a male vocalist too! To quote one of my customers, "Okay, so she's fine, but what's that annoying bugger doing this time?" Hmm, okay, for those of you who are unfamiliar with the band, Raymond can't sing. In 15 years he's tried growly, shouty, speaky and even Bowie! (Lost dwarves or what?), and now he's doing a kind of Rammstien-esque speaking delivery. Which, even if it's not to your taste, it's not so bad because the songs do shine through a lot more and, to be fair, Nell carries each song more than adequately anyway.
As a guide, if you listen to the first three songs (which you can in any Hellraiser of course! Had to get that plug in, of course...) and like them, then it's a safe bet you'll love the whole album!
